Dr. James Okonkwo

Dr. James Okonkwo is a cardiologist, researcher, and medical educator who serves as Chair of HOW Academy's Academic Board. He brings three decades of clinical, research, and educational experience to the institution's governance and curriculum design.

His academic work spans cardiac rehabilitation, lifestyle medicine in cardiovascular prevention, and the translation of research evidence into postgraduate clinical education. He holds fellowships of the European Society of Cardiology and has published over 60 peer-reviewed papers.

Dr. Okonkwo's teaching style is widely recognised for its ability to make complex physiology clinically accessible — and his conviction that the quality of a clinician's reasoning is the most important determinant of patient outcomes.
